Blood Drives
The Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank works with Keystone Technical Institute to hold frequent blood drive events. A vital part of the community, the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank (CPBB) works to promote, secure and coordinate the region's blood supply. The CPBB is a not-for-profit organization responsible for 100% of our area's blood needs. Keystone Technical Institute students, faculty, and staff are dedicated to these efforts. Recently, KTI won the 2007 College Challenge Award. Competing with other area schools, KTI was honored for the greatest number of donations compared to enrollment for 2007.
March of Dimes
The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. They carry out this mission through research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies' lives. Keystone Technical Institute is honored to raise funds for the Pennsylvania Chapter of the March of Dimes in various activities, including the Annual Rubber Duck Regata and WalkAmerica.
Angel Tree
Keystone Technical Institute is proud to participate in the Salvation Army's Holiday Angel Tree Program, which provides gifts of new clothing or toys for children of needy families. KTI puts up a tree decorated with numbered paper angel tags with the first name, age and gender of a child who will receive the gift. Contributors remove one or more tags from the tree and purchase appropriate gifts for the child or children described on the tags.
Toys for Tots
Keystone Technical Institute is an official drop-off site for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots drive that delivers new toys and a message of hope to the children in the Harrisburg area. During the holiday season, Keystone Technical Institute and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots ask people to drop off new, unwrapped toys to the collection box at KTI's campus. Campaign coordinators pick up the collected toys and deliver them to needy children in time for the holidays.
Central Pennsylvania Food Bank
The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank distributes more than 15 million pounds of food and grocery products every year to more than 500 soup kitchens, shelters, and food pantries in 27 central Pennsylvania counties. These agencies directly feed thousands of hungry families throughout Central Pennsylvania. Keystone Technical Institute collects non-perishable food items from our students, faculty, and staff as well as from members of the surrounding community to contribute to this worthwhile program.
Humane Society - Cell Phone Recycling
In an effort to help the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area (HSHA), Keystone Technical Institute facilitates a cell phone recycling service. Collected phones are taken to HSHA for recycling. Proceeds from this effort are used by HSHA to provide food, shelter, and medical care for lost, abandoned, and injured animals. The Humane Society of Harrisburg Area is an open admission shelter that serves Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry, and northern York counties and takes in more than 10,000 animals yearly. The Society does not euthanize any adoptable animal for lack of space.
