Financial Aid

General Information

Students attending Keystone Technical Institute who qualify may be eligible for the following financial aid programs. All financial aid recipients must be enrolled in an approved program of study, continue to demonstrate financial need, and maintain satisfactory academic progress. Further information concerning these Financial Aid programs, rights and responsibilities of financial aid recipients and official application forms may be obtained from the Financial Aid Office. In the event a student is suspended, Financial Aid will be discontinued.

Keystone Technical Institute participates in Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) for Federal Student Loan program proceeds (FFELP; FPLUS, FDL), therefore all funds will be transferred electronically to Keystone Technical Institute. Each student/parent will be notified three days in advance of those funds being credited to your account. This notification will outline your options. This is a check less system. A receipt will also be provided after the funds are credited to the student's account.


Federal Pell Grant Program

KTI participates in the Federal Pell Grant Program. Under the terms of this entitlement program, students who are determined to be eligible by the federal government may receive grants for a full-time course of study during the grant year. All full-time students are entitled to apply; eligibility is determined by the federal government.


Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP)

Under the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) students may obtain low cost loans to be repaid after completion of their studies. These programs are administered through lending institutions. Interested applicants may obtain a Master Promissory Note through the Financial Aid Office.


A. Federal Stafford Loan Program (Subsidized Loan & Unsubsidized Loan)

A guarantee fee and an origination fee are charged on each loan. Contact our Financial Aid Office to see what loan you qualify for.


B. Federal Plus Program (Parental Loans For Undergraduate Students)

This type of loan can be borrowed by parents of dependent children who are enrolled at an eligible institution at least on a half-time basis. The maximum amount per year is up to the cost of attendance less other student aid. Repayment begins 60 days after second disbursement.


Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program

This program provides jobs for qualified students who are unable to continue their education without additional assistance. This enables the students to earn money by working at the school or for an off-campus employer assigned by the school.


Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

An FSEOG grant may be awarded on a limited basis in the range of $100 to $2000 per year. Students with the most need (based on student's EFC) who qualify for other aid are given first consideration for this grant.


State Grants

PHEAA Grant - applicable to Specialized Associate Degree programs only. Undergraduate students who have been a resident of Pennsylvania for at least twelve months prior to the date of application are eligible to apply for a Pennsylvania State Grant.

PHEAA Grant awards are made to students who demonstrate financial need in accordance with PHEAA requirements. There is an August 1st deadline for first time applicants. There is a May 1st deadline for previous State Grant recipients.


Veteran's Benefits

KTI has been approved for training of veterans under the provision of Title 38, United States Code, Section 3675. Veterans should contact the Financial Aid Office for further information. Make-up work is not permitted for the purpose of receiving Veterans Affairs training allowances (CFR 21.4254).


Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR)

Physically challenged students seeking vocational training are encouraged to contact their nearest Vocational Rehabilitation Office for information and official forms.


Scholarship Award Program

Keystone Technical Institute awards eight half tuition scholarships. These scholarships can be applied to any one of the following degree programs: Child Care Specialist, Culinary Arts Specialist, Digital Arts Specialist, Professional Massage Therapy Specialist, Dental Assistant Specialist, Medical Assistant Specialist, Medical Office Management, and Paralegal Specialist.

Selection Criteria for these scholarships are as follows:

Scholarships are awarded annually to the winners of the scholarship awards program. These awards are made in two increments at the satisfactory completion of each academic year. If student terminates prior to completion of the degree program, the total scholarship is forfeited. Preliminary scholarship competition is conducted in the form of scholastic testing. On the basis of test results, finalists are selected and invited to return for an interview conducted by the Scholarship Committee, comprised of volunteers representing business, industry, education and/or government.

These committee members are not employed by Keystone Technical Institute. This committee will evaluate each finalist on the basis of preliminary test results, appearance, friendliness, poise, conduct, oral expression and alertness. To participate, the applicant must be a graduating member of the current year high school senior class in good standing, have a recommendation from a guidance counselor or instructor and submit a completed scholarship awards program application. Applications can be obtained through your high school guidance office or by contacting Keystone Technical Institute.

Keystone Technical Institute does not intend to use a scholarship as a premium, special endorsement or discount.
